Character Archetype Catalog
Grounded named-character skill profiles and recurring assignment patterns already implied by the current docs.
These are recurring person-shaped skill and assignment profiles for named characters. They are not ordinary settlement jobs, and they should read across Core, Camp, Site, Mission, settlement-facing, party or expedition, training or teaching, and later management or governance contexts.
Early And Midgame Archetypes
- scout or investigator - clue work, route finding, site approach, and expedition support
- fighter or guardian - escort, danger handling, site security, and mission risk support
- crafter or artificer - repair, tool work, Core or Camp support, and teaching
- healer or ritual specialist - recovery, treatment, ward work, site anomaly handling, and teaching
- camp specialist or guide - watches, loadout support, survey work, and overnight camp readiness
- local leader or steward - settlement-facing liaison, oversight, and early management work
Later Leadership Archetypes
- governor - management, governance, and settlement or province-facing leadership
- commander - party, expedition, defense, or force leadership
- steward - stores, logistics, training coordination, and institutional oversight
- specialist investigator - clue interpretation, mission framing, and unusual site work
Notes
These are documentation archetypes for skill-bearing individuals, not fixed professions or ordinary job slots. Named characters keep skills and assignments rather than permanent job labels, and pops fill ordinary settlement labor. See ../systems/gd-characters-and-retinue.md.
